I have always, since I was a little girl growing up in Sanford, NC, been fascinated with colors and their relationship with each other. Trying to decide what color to color flowers and houses, and leaves was so interesting in how they complimented wach other, or not! Also, dressing paper dolls to be fashionable and matching was a passion.

Not until my husband was diagnosed with cancer in 1994 and I needed something to do for myself, did I consider art classes.

I graduated from ECU with a degree in Primary Education (K-3) and taught for several years. My favorite subject to teach, other than reading was art. I loved the children's artwork and their expression of emotions through art. After alkyd classes at Wilson Community College for a few years with Clara Flanagan, I got the "bug" to grow as a painter, but when my husband died in 2000, I felt lost for a while and stopped classes.

With encouragement from close friends, who were "real" artists, I reluctantly signed up for classes with the renowned artist Oona Lewis, whom I already owned a couple of her paintings. Her work, spiritual guidance and attitude were just what I needed at the time. THe rest is history. Oil painting became my favorite passion, even more than tennis.

After recent art study in Giverney, France, painting in Monet's famous gardens, I have become fascinated how many colors one can create from red, yellow and blue.

After charcoal drawing lessons from Dwight Mitchell and oil lessons from Oona, I am ready to branch out to pastels and pssible watercolors. Life is so full or opportunities.

I would describe my paintings as impressionistic and painterly. I especially enjoy flowers, anumals, landscapes, and still life imagery. I like paintings that make me happy. I look forward to each day of painting at Studio One.
